4zero birthday bash – The Story part 2
So came the time for me to sing. Oh, giannya nak pegang mike and nyanyi on stage!! Ya, ya…tanpa segan silu - I love stage! Being on one, and singing on one is just not the same as singing in a karaoke room! You can actually feel the aura tu tiba-tiba datang je and you just want to sing your heart out! I decided to sing “Selamat Malam Sayang” by Allahyarham Sudirman even though I could neither find the song nor the minus one anywhere on the net and from the music shops! Hantam sajalah Labu! Hey…as I told them, now ni kalau singers nyanyi without music, just pure voice – ala-ala accapella gitu, MAHHHHAL, tau!!!! He he he Farahnaz my fellow soloist in the batch sang ‘Hero’ and Tatee the other soloist sang her trademark song, ‘Pelangi Petang’. Oh well, as usual (cewah!) the three soloists were requested to sing as a trio, the song ‘Belaian Jiwa’ ala-ala concert gitu! Ada jugak tu suruh nyanyi ‘Menuju Puncak’!!! What? We were more of ‘Menuju PANCIT’ already, ok?!!!From Left to right : Farahnaz, Tatee and Tati
Then the entire hall went silent the moment Shahnaz recited the poem specially written by THE ‘sasterawan’ of our batch, Ida Endut, entitled Cerita Kita 2, with her famous sentimental style (the first Cerita Kita was written and recited by Ida herself during our grand reunion in 2006). I know most of us shed tears quietly especially with the thought of arwah Maria in mind. To Ida, thank you for that touching piece… We missed you at the reunion! You’ve promised to post the poem in your blog when you are back from your trip, right? Please make sure, ok? (Yes, it’s an order! ;-))
We had the best dress competition won by the ever so sporting Jizzie (of course, tengoklah siapa ‘campaign manager’ dia? He he he Me appointed me-self lahhh…!!). A little bird told me someone even brought a pink afro wig but don’t know lah what happened to the wig?! Tak sempat pakai agaknya. There was also ‘Guess the Song’ game which sent many of us laughing and rolling (mujur dah sempat ease ourselves earlier!!;-))! All the songs were the ones played/sung/’used’ in our school activities and concerts. All sorts of hilarious answers popped out! Imagine, for my table at least, we even came out with answers like – Q: Song title? A: Rock Lobster; Q: Event? A: Dancing Competition 1983; Q: Original singer? A: Errr….err…Rock Lobster, huh??? Then the singer must be Seafood Restaurant!!!! – Adoooiiiii….suka haaaaati aje!!!!
Oh, there were prizes for the House with the most attendees, Class with the most attendees and lucky draws! Oh, my ibu’ supir for the day, Puan Besau Adillah itu, brought back prizes sampai penuh satu bonnet kereta, haaaa??? Soooo berbaloi jadi ibu’ supir!!!
Class with the most attendees - 5 Social Science (5N) - 16 'Debutantes'..hehehe...
House with the most attendees - Tun Fatimah (Blue House) - 15 xCannians...
Then the most awaited moment arrived…jeng jeng jeng…shakey-wakey-boogey!!! He he he Let’s burn the fat!!! ;-) Initially it’s pocho-pocho…wah…don’t play-play…a few girls actually took up some training prior to the reunion!! Amboi!! And ohh?? Lupalah ya, segala sakit lutut, sakit pinggang bagai!!! I was thinking kot-kot ada kezzutan macam AF ke…who knows, tengah-tengah berpocho-pocho, kot-kot muncul aje our PE teacher Ms Nana Tilaka???! But wait a minute! Some said pocho-pocho not ‘hot’ enough lah..pocho-pocho for ‘orang tua’ (laaa…tak sedar-sedar lagi tu!!;-)) …so, haaa….terus PGK played those 80’s songs once played for the dancing competition (modern dance category) !!! Wooaaa…hot, hotter, hottest gitu!!! But no, no, no…NO photos – scout’s honour!! ;-) Gurrrrlzzzz just wanna have FUN!!! Ya lah, come to think of it, who else SANGGUP nak tengok our silly acts kalau bukan those friends we grew (silly!!) with, kan?!
Hmm…once fats had been burnt, more fats must be restored!!!! Hoahaha…so, maQan some more, chit-chat some more, posing some more! Time flew so fast! When it’s time to go back, woaaa….sedih!!! InsyaAllah, another two years, another reunion to celebrate our batch 25th anniversary (from SPM year). InsyaAllah, moga-moga panjang umur, sihat dan ada kelapangan boleh jumpa lagi. Amin. Some girls especially those who came all the way from far and those PGKs put up the night at the hotel (aahh..jealousnya!) while the rest of us slowly dragged ourselves home…sob sob sob.. So another round of school song – versi accapella gitu, before we said our goodbyes, hugged and kissed one another with a heavy heart. Never mind the sore throat caused by too much talking and shrieking…never mind the lipstick stains on both sides of my tudung…they can be washed away easily…but nothing can wash away the precious memories of being together with lifetime friends, kan?
So all the Fab40 girls, thank you for the wonderful time, and to those who couldn’t make it, hey, we all missed you lah! May our paths cross again, insyaAllah. Amin.
To the rest of you, my fellow blogaholics (?), thank you for bearing with this long blabber of a re-charged 40-carat-club member!! Hu huuu!!!
